Dragons and Beans

So, my birthday was a few weeks ago. Patrick has grand plans for me; movies, lunch, a mini party, and pinatas! We had an overnight drive to get to our Kansas City, MO show on my birthday, but we got stuck in traffic for hours because of an accident and a million other things. So we got to Kansas City at about 8pm instead of in the afternoon as planned. So my birthday was spent in the van and then running around like crazy to get things done once we finally got out of the van. But I was unaware of the birthday plans, so I didn't know what I was missing! Luckily Patrick is good at thinking on his feet, so the plans were spread out over the next couple of days in Minnesota. I got to have a birthday for like 3 whole days! He still owes me the movie and lunch though!

He made me a cake! From scratch!

I was placed extremely far from the pinata, while of course being told "you've got it! just a little to the left"

The best part was the pinata! It was a dragon, which I promptly slayed. To my disappointment the pinata was not filled with one of my favorite foods (candy) but beans. Yes, that's right, beans. Dried black beans. Patrick just replied "But you love beans!" (which is true). I wasn't surprised at all. He has gone to great lengths to trick me on holidays before. One Christmas morning I awoke to a giant wrapped box under the tree only to discover there was a roll of toilet paper inside and nothing else. I have also opened a light bulb on another Christmas.

My birthday presents from my good old husband consisted of:
- the movie Amélie (included once we are home with this is take home sushi while we watch it)
- Money for etsy!
- Promise of a movie/lunch date when we get home
- and a SNUGGIE! And yes I mean the old grandma blankets with the arms

Well this is the end of my long ramble.
