Sewing, backyards, and dear creatures

I sewed up another dress! Its kind of hard to see any detail, I need to take a close-up picture of it. It used to be ankle length with a big ruffle along the bottom, not a sight anyone wants to see. It's vintage, but I'm not so good at guessing the ages of things so who knows! For some reason while it was getting sewn up I kept thinking of the Dear Creatures fall collection, even though this dress isn't really that similar. It was probably just wishful thinking. The picture taking was cut short from itching, its November but there are still bugs outside!! How stupid. So the shoe picture is blurry!

I've made it a goal to take pictures all over our "backyard" (behind our house is a big field, pond, and forest) and the tree here is on my list of favorites. I'm saving my absolute favorite tree for the perfect picture taking scenario, which is yet to be thought of.

coat- forever21
dress- $5 bin at the clothing warehouse in savannah
tights- I never remember
purse- goodwill
shoes- target (i've been dying to show off these shoes!!)

I want to thank everyone for their nice comments on the anniversary post! We had a lot of fun, of course, on our 'anniversary' weekend. We decided to wait to celebrate until the weekend so we'd have more time and not have to worry about jobs and such. It was filled with food, fun, fancy hotels, and rain. The coat that I'm wearing in these pictures was my anniversary gift from Patrick. He knows how to win me over, ha. And its not with jewelery or flowers, that's for sure (although he still does get me flowers)... its with clothing and food. And by the way, it is the best coat I've ever put on, in my whole life I think.

(veggie dumpling appetizer please)

I was excited about going to dinner

  1. Love the coat! Your dress is super cute too! I only wish I had the ability to sew haha! I'm trying!

I think that getting a comment back on here in reply would be better seeing as how at the moment I do not have a blog! lol, it's a work in progress though!

  2. I love your dress! And Dear Creatures...the clothing and models remind me of Jacqueline Susann books. Also, your yard is absolutely amazing. If not for the bugs, I'd probably put my bed out there :)

  3. Oh how lucky you are to have such a beautiful backyard! It does make the perfect background setting for your dress, with all those muted shades of brown. The pictures sort of look like a scene from a fairytale movie... :)
