Freezing, Farmers, and Sewing

So what in the heck is up with the weather everywhere? For heaven's sake it snowed in Florida! We haven't had any snow here although it has snowed in other parts of Georgia, but it is freezing nonetheless. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest so you'd think the cold wouldn't phase me. I have a theory though! I think when you live in a climate that is generally colder, you in a way get used to it. Or rather, you expect it to be cold. So when it finally warms up into the 30's from the 0's or 10's, by comparison it feels warm out! But when it was 70 degrees around New Years and then drops to the 20's, you think you're going to die! Enough about that boring stuff though.

I bring you more of my backyard:

I have passed a great milestone/anniversary this week. It has been one whole year since I've cut my hair! You're probably looking at my short hair thinking 'how pathetic', but last January I cut it all off a la Rosemary's Baby style. It was the dumbest choice I made all year, not because I don't like that look but because I instantly started growing it back out practically the day after I got it cut. It's also been about that long since I've straightened my hair, which is a break my hair desperately needed. Never in my entire life have I gone a whole year without a cut (well I've had the ends trimmed, but that's not a haircut). So whoo hoo for me!

The shirt I am wearing here is the shirt I've decided to wear when I do goat things in public, like go to the farmer's supply store. I have to blend in you know. Show up in ruffles or something and you'll get no respect!

coat and skirt- forever21
scarf- knitted by my mom
shirt- target
tights- gap
shoes- U.O.

Looking back through my past posts just makes me realize it has been far too long since I've shown pictures of something I've made, so its time to change that! Expect to see some attempt at being crafty on here soon!

(p.s. the goats are good, we've begun herding them outside their pen, you know, freedom)

  2. Of course you've always looked cute no matter what your hairs look like, but I'm glad it's growing out for you! I just chopped my hair off last month because I had nothing else to do, and now I'm regretting it!

Yeah, we've known each other for so long! Since back when you would just talk to Patrick on the phone for hours at That 70's House! So glad to STILL know you, my dear.

  3. It's so true! You do get used to it. People freak out all the time about me not wearing a coat in my photos, but I really am not that cold. What an odd phenomenon.

  4. hehe I laughed when I read that you wear the plaid shirt to do goat things :) Your hair looks really pretty. The weather is so messed up this year - it's the same in England. I live in the south east and I've never seen this much snow in my entire life! I read that some experts are predicting a mini-ice age for 25 years. I hope not!!

  5. "doing goat things in public" is probably the best thing I've seen written in a blog! and wow do you look perfect for the public-goat-thing!
I can't wait to see what crafty projects you have up your sleeves. I just picked knitting back up and got a sewing machine and wood burnign kit for christmas so i guess i should get on that wagon too and start posting some crafty items !

as for the cold, I'm tempted to be mad at your Southern ladies for complaining about cold, because I just opened the door to my balcony and snow blew inside the house and hit me in the face, but I guess if (and hopefully when) I finally get to live somewhere warmer maybe my blood will change too and then i'll be the one bugging my montreal friends about how cold it is out in Georgia! :P

  6. I once cut my hair when I was in my senior year of highschool and I regretted it so much. I did it just out of spite because no one thought I would and then...I did. And I hate looking at my senior picture because I feel like I ruined them! I dont think I will ever cut it again!

  16. What a small, small world! Just found your blog through the show and tell on Bluebird Vintage and as I was scrolling down I saw the moss in the trees in your backyard photos. I knew there could only be a number of places where that could be. SC, GA, FL. But imagine my surprise when I read Guyton, GA! What are the crazy odds? I grew up (well since like early middle school) in Effingham Co (and Savannah before that)! My parents live in Rincon. I don't live there now but I love that spanish moss! Nice to see there is style going on somewhere in Effingham! Your ruffles and respect comment made me laugh!

  17. I love your story regarding the plaid shirt and goat errands! Too cute! :)

You look so adorable! I have always adored your hair! Is the wave natural? It is gorgeous! I know what you mean though...I chopped off my insanely long hair a few years ago straight to a pixie cut. I just cannot grow it out quick enough!
