Breakfast, sewing, and car troubles

Hello friends! I am trying out a post a day this week and today am shooting for two little posts. I am just so productive! I have a dress I have been sewing on for awhile and while it didn't turn out like I had hoped I still wanted to show you all. I put it on yesterday to run a few errands in and planned to photograph it when we got home. Well we were driving to Savannah and a few minutes before we arrived there was a gigantic accident. It almost turned into a 10 car pile up as we slammed into our brakes and slid into the shoulder to avoid smashing into all the other cars doing the same thing. A few minutes later we drove by said accident and it looked terrible, two cars were smashed up and stuck up in the air on the guardrail, and the people were still in the car!! That's obviously the worst part of this story. Well then not a minute down the road our car quit working and shut off. We then continued to sit on the side of the interstate for probably an hour and a half total, 98 degrees out and no shade. And I had to go to the bathroom! But eventually Patrick's dad came and towed us home. So needless to say my hair and dress matted down by sweat didn't seem like a good combination for a picture.

I know you all wanted to hear that extremely long story.

Anyway, here is my breakfast today. Try not to get too excited.

I have caught the sewing bug and that's all I want to do lately and it's all I think about. So here is my stack of fabric I plan to use next. I have about 20 times more in my big stash, the amount I have saved up verges on pathetic.

Some of this fabric is vintage, some is new, and one is actually a scarf from target that is GIGANTIC and definitely enough to turn into a dress. I plan to make a few dresses this week if they go as planned and don't turn out all weird and wrong! Also! I posted the owls and narwhals in my shop, so they're there if anyone is interested. The owl now comes in the light blue I put up here earlier and mint green! (I am obsessed with anything minty)

I hope everyone is having a great start to their week and surviving the heat (if its hot where you are that is)!

  4. Car troubles are no fun. We're hoping ours won't break down on the way to Georgia like Marvin's trucks always did on previous trips!

I really love the fabric at the bottom of the pile. Too pretty!

  7. Aww, breaking down in this heat sounds miserable! I'm glad you were rescued.
I'm loving your fabric stash - what pretty prints! I love the fabric on that Target scarf...I've been eyeing it for so long because it's such a pretty print, but haven't bought it because I couldn't justify purchasing a giant cotton scarf in summer in the south... Upcycling it is definitely a great idea!

  10. Yikes! Car troubles are definitely not fun... we just went through a spurt of them earlier this year (tires went, and then the front bumper fell off--all in the space of a few days!). My sympathies!

Ooooh... your fabrics are making me drool! I've been buying a lot of fabric lately myself--I really need to sit down at my machine and actually make something! ;)
