Sorry Mom

I realized the other day that I have never really posted about tattoos, which is funny since I feel the need to share dumb things like pictures of my breakfast and tattoos are a little more permanent than what I ate one morning. So here you go! You will also spot one very new addition, it is my ode to Washington/the Pacific Northwest (aka, as Abi and I say, God's country)

My tattoos are as follows:
  • anatomical heart inspired from Leonardo Da Vinci sketches
  • Raccoon (more details here)
  • Letter P- for Patrick (or poop, it all depends on the day)
  • baby in the womb, also from Da Vinci medical sketches!
  • Lillies.... maybe also from Da Vinci. Ha ha, I really didn't realize how many tattoos are from the same place
  • Script- psalms 51:8
  • Trees!

I have also noticed that lately I've seemed to acquire quite a few new readers, so if you are one of those...introduce yourself! I thought maybe I should make some sort of "about me" post or page seeing as I have none, so if there is anything you'd like to know or a question you have post it here!! I love and appreciate all of your thoughts, comments, and input... always!

The trees, flowers, and raccoon were done by Chris Anderson at California Tattoo in Savannah...so if you are in the market for a tattoo and in the area, for heavens sake go see him!

  5. I've been reading and loving your blog for some time now, but I don't often get around to leaving comments. Your new tattoo is awesome! How do you go about designing/selecting the images you use in your tattoos? Also, I think it's time for you to get a tattoo of one (or all) of your goats!

  15. Greetings!
Rosalynn here, I am one of the new readers you speak of. I myself also have an anatomy drawing tattoo, but of the classic Grey's Anatomy (No! not the TV show!) neck muscles.
I have always wanted a goat, and well now, I want two. I love and have studied art history, photography, print making & horticulture. Currently listening to Roberta Flack and Captain Beefheart, I am a self confessed vinyl-phile and music snob, there, I said it. Great Blog, I need inspiration to spice up my own blog endeavors.

  18. Hi Vanessa!

I've been reading your blog for quite a while, but since I never got to introduce myself or leave a comment, I felt impelled to do it so after your post. :)

My name is Ana, my main formation is in fashion design and I've also learned jewelry making. Last year I decided that wasn't enough so now I'm studying portuguese and spanish literature. I love vintage, colored and fun stuff and I'm always having great ideas that I never get to work on (shame on me).

It's funny, you've mentioned your tattoos many times in your posts but I'd never imagined they were so many! Mr. Cooney is definitely a hit! Please, keep sharing them with us. :)

  20. Hello I am a new follower. I forget how I came over here, did you do a guest post on another blog recently, hmm who knows! My name is Joline and I live in Boston, MA. I love tattoos, I just last week got a new tattoo myself, a memorial for my bird Chubs who passed away last year. That last tattoo was my 6th. I love your writing and have added you to my blogroll.

  21. I'm a newbie too!

Just looking at your "P" tat brings back the pain of that spot. I don't know if it's universal, but it was a killer for me....

Take some time to thank your artists for everything they've done for you...my artist/bestie/mentor passed away suddenly a few months ago and now I'm a lost little puppy. I feel so proud to carry his work with me forever, but at the same time, I have his memory all over my body and it makes it hard to escape how sad it all is.

Psssst...I'm not normally such a downer, I swear!
And your goats are awesome! That's what led me over here!

Are you a musician as well,or just hubby? Do you have a day job,or are you able to make a living out of Etsy? Do you live within the city of Sabvannah(a place I've been fascinated with for years!)or outside of it?

  29. Ohhh man I love your tattoo style. So fun! I think my favorite is the P! My husband has a tattoo, "NFR", and I like to assign many meanings to it on his behalf. He says it's for No Fucking Reason (because he has so many tattoos and people always ask them what they mean...), but I like to tell people it means Nancy Fuckin Reagan, or No! Fuck Ranch! or... Nerds For Russia!

Okay I realize how weird I sound :)

  30. Hi! Love the title of this post; I'll have to do the same thing once I get the tattoo I'm planning.

And I'm a new reader too! I found you via Katie at Skunkboy Creatures I believe. Love your blog and the wedding photos from the last post.

  31. I love the P!

And I'm new-ish to your blog, but so far I'm digging it. I don't really know much about you, do you live in the northwest (I do)? It's a good place (as I'm sure you agree - seeing as you have a northwestern-ish tattoo).

  32. love this tattoo post. makes me want to do one. i love your raccoon, he's just lovely.

by the way, i'm alix, i'm a sort of new reader. really enjoying your blog lately. :)

  33. Hi! I'm also a new reader. But I'm a terrible new reader in that I cannot for the life of me remember where I found your blog. But I love it!

I'm glad I caught this post though (instead of starting to read after it) because, as someone with tattoos myself, I'm always interested in the artwork other people have. I love your Da Vinci tattoos - the sketch of the baby in the womb has long been one of my favourites, but this is the first time I've ever seen it turned into a tattoo.

  34. I'm not exactly new, been reading your blog for like a year now :P but since I hardly ever comment I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Marcela, from Brazil.. I may have asked about your tattoos before and I'm so glad you made a post about them! They're really cool ^^

  40. I'm Katie, from Australia. I think the fact you have goats is pretty much the best thing ever!

Your racoon tattoo is amazing. I could never get a tatoo because I change my mind about things so often I would get sick of it within a week, but I love them on other people. Yours are beautiful :)

  42. Hi! Love your blog, I'm one of the new readers i suppose.. I stumbled upon your blog from the friendly fox.
I too live the life of a traveling wife for my husbands band.. We have been really lucky to tour Europe/Scandinavia for the last couple years and we go back in the fall to record another album. I love how you mention how touring consists of broken sleep and vans...I think most people imagine our travels far more luxurious than they are, i liked how you touched in one of your posts that you meet lots of friends in lots of different cities, but that means you don't get to see them very often or in-between sound checks and naps! Your tattoos are amazing, I have an etsy shop myself (sushibooties) and love berkleyillustration, I also happen to have grown up in Portland and live just a couple miles from the city, so I get uber excited that they have blown up on etsy!
So for your about me page I have a question, do you play music? And what is the name of your husbands band? Besides vintage clothes do you collect any other vintage oddities?
Thanks for the great posts! I'll be back for sure!
    All the best,
    Della

  44. Hi I'm new. I'm adding you to my Google Reader. Your posts crack me up. (I'm sorry to hear about your goat though.) I love goats and I'm pretty sure one of my dogs is half goat. The other is half squirrel. Scientific facts.

  45. Holy Crap! I read your blog from time to time and I have always admired your tattoos. I seriously love the anatomical heart one. I have considered getting one of an anatomical heart on my forearm but alas it is not practical for my future career. Happy Blogging :)

Gosh I love myself some tattoo! And I know what you mean by the title... I hide to my mom for monthssss that I got a tattoo. But then she gave me a day-at-the-spa gift so, she saw it.

Sorry for the orthograph, I'm french speaking. Be merciful.

Now, I'm gonna read all of you're post instead of working :-)

  50. thanks for sharing. i love seeing tattoos up close. i always feel weird gawking at peoples' tattoos in person, and when people ask about mine i never feel like i let them stare long enough or give good enough explanations. they are personal, after all. but we'd love to hear the back stories to your tattoos, if you'd like to tell!

I am a theater costume designer in Grand Rapids, MI. Been married 20 years to the most amazing man ever. We have 3 super humans that we raise as our own, one is flying the coop next year, to head off on broader adventures. I have a flock of chickens, that I refer to as "my girls", I give them food and shelter and they give me eggs, nice trade. As well as a slew of other animals.
I love tattoos and add to my collection as often as I can. My newest obsession is making shoes. I live to create and create to sustain.
